There is no directory named templates in my .bzero area for my newly created blog. How do I customize things? The notes do not mention how to change the colors and such that are defined in static.py. Also an example of a customized blogroll.py would be helpful.

Thanks Phillip! More questions:

I'm assuming you're on Unix here:

To delete a post, go into your ~/.bzero/(blogname)/data/year/month/day directory and delete the file with the post text in it. For example, if you want to delete the first post on 12 jan 2003 in the blog 'test', you want to:

rm ~/.bzero/test/data/2003/1/12/1.txt

After that, you'll need to re-publish the blog. To let bzero know that you've done something, use the 'touch' command:

touch ~/.bzero/test/data/2003/1/12/*

bzero send test

In the default mode, you can add whatever you like. Keep in mind that it will insert a <br/> tag at the end of each line, so whenever you add a line feed, you'll get a newline in the output.

If you prefer to write your own HTML, add:

#format 'html'

after the #title line. Then whatever you add below will be copied verbatim into the output. Good if you're using an HTML editor to edit your posts.

If you run:

bzero render (blogname)

it will generate all the HTML, but not send it. Now look in the ~/.bzero/(blogname)/rendered/ directory for the HTML. If you browse to ~/.bzero/(blogname)/rendered/index.html, you'll get your index page.

Links won't work (they'll all point back to the web server rather than to the other pages on your hard disk) but you'll be able to preview individual pages.

An install narrative specifically for Windows users would help.

See BzeroInstallOnWindows

When will the source be released? (or Where?)

It probably won't :-)

Seriously, I still don't know what I want to do with this. Make a Windows UI and go commercial? Release the backend for free? Not sure. -- PhillipPearson

Hrm . . . If the source code is not released, then bzero is certainly not for me. -- KlausSeistrup?

If you're after a totally open source blogging package in Python, try [PyDS]. I don't think bzero will end up going down that path.
