Phillip Pearson - web + electronics notes

tech notes and web hackery from a new zealander who was vaguely useful on the web back in 2002 (see: python community server, the blogging ecosystem, the new zealand coffee review, the internet topic exchange).

Thanks

Once again, thanks go to N.Z. Bear for coming up with the original ecosystem idea. Also Dave for introducing it.

This is getting big

Wow - the ecosystem main page is up to 900K. Luckily it compresses down to 100K when sending (if your browser supports gzip encoding), but if you find it takes a while to receive, that’s why. The server is behind a 128K DSL link, so it’ll take at least 7 seconds to receive.

Doing another run now, BTW. The last one brought us up to 1768 blogs, and a good few screenfuls of new blogs appeared this morning when I scanned weblogs.com again, so we might get near the 2000 mark this time …
