Phillip Pearson - web + electronics notes

tech notes and web hackery from a new zealander who was vaguely useful on the web back in 2002 (see: python community server, the blogging ecosystem, the new zealand coffee review, the internet topic exchange).

Python Community Server now easier to join

Up until now, it’s been fairly difficult to join my Python Community Server. You had to install a copy of Radio, go to a config page, enter a new server URL, then register a new user.

Now, you can just download the installer (for Windows), run it, and sign up as usual. You’ll end up with a nice shiny new account on pycs.net.

But wait, there’s more! If you send me an e-mail, I’ll give you a nicer URL, like www.pycs.net/foo rather than www.pycs.net/users/0000099. As Rogers Cadenhead mentions, PyCS is still the only public Radio host that lets you have non-numeric URLs.
