Connecting together as many blogging tools as we can find!
Movable Type
By Phillip Pearson
Tuesday, June 25, 2002Movable Type, by Ben and Mena Trott, is a server-side blogging tool in Perl, free for personal use (it's about $100 for a commercial license). You install it on your own server (one with CGI or mod_perl is required) and it stores its data there.
Data Storage
MT uses the Berkeley DB format by default, and apparently the most recent release allows you to use MySQL as well.
Direct access to data
You are probably better off avoiding this for the moment as there are better ways to get at the blog data with MT ;-)
Template-based access
Access by RPC
The MovableType manual has a nice section on programmatic interfaces.
